Have you seen Stacey Solomon’s hit BBC TV show, Sort Your Life Out?
At the start of each episode, Stacey and her team rock up to a family house somewhere in the UK and empty every item in that house into an aircraft hangar.
That means every sock, every teapot, every pen, every can of baked beans, every book, toy, piece of furniture, phone charger, Tupperware lid, biscuit tin, fridge magnet and so on.
As Stacey’s team build some nifty storage solutions back at the family house, the family wander through the hangar and throw out as much of their stuff as they can.
Then the family trundles home and their house has been transformed.
You might think the Subtraction Method works in a similar way. So if you sign up for a package of sessions with me, we’ll work on decluttering your life, reducing your commitments, creating shorter to-do lists, saying no to your boss and maybe even cutting back on your scrolling on Dimstagram.
But the Subtraction Method has nothing to do with any of this.
In fact, after a few Subtraction Method sessions, you’ll probably find you have more time and energy than you did before.
And that’s because we’re not subtracting your tasks or your to do list.
We’re subtracting this:
*** the need to be consistent
*** the assumption that your past defines your future
*** the notion that there's a “right” answer you're supposed to find
*** the belief that other people's behaviour means something about you
*** the idea that you need to understand why you feel the way you do before you can get moving
These are usually what's getting in the way.
